BLACKWEIR 2025: A Huge Success and Just the Beginning
What a fortnight! Over 100,000 music lovers came together under the summer skies for the debut of Blackweir, Cardiff’s newest large-scale music series – and it was nothing short of spectacular.
Hosted at the city’s largest greenfield venue, Blackweir Fields, this brand-new concert series brought legendary global acts Stevie Wonder, Alanis Morissette, Noah Kahan and Slayer to the heart of the Welsh capital. As promoters, DEPOT Live – alongside our partners Cuffe and Taylor – are thrilled to declare Blackweir 2025 a resounding success.
“To have such huge artists grace our stage has been incredible,” said Nick Saunders, founder of DEPOT Live. “The feedback from fans, artists and the community has been overwhelmingly positive.”
Making an Impact – On and Off Stage
Blackweir wasn’t just about the music. Over 3,000 people were employed across the site, with the majority being local to Cardiff. In total, more than 40% of attendees travelled from outside of Wales – delivering a powerful economic boost to the city.
Local businesses, hospitality venues, and cultural leaders have praised the series for energising the summer season. From packed hotels to buzzing restaurants and bars, Blackweir showed how music can lift a whole city.
“Events like this are invaluable,” said Carolyn Brownell, CEO of FOR Cardiff. “They deliver a meaningful boost to the local economy during a traditionally quieter period.”
What’s Next for Blackweir?
This is just the beginning. We’re already in conversations about how to bring even more global icons to Cardiff in future years – and we’re committed to making each year bigger, better, and even more inclusive.
We’ll continue listening to residents, partners, and concertgoers as we shape what comes next for Blackweir.
